3d Lighting

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another video tutorial. Today I’m going to talk about lighting. I’m going to create a lighting system for an interior scene and I’m going to show you corona interactive lightMix. For this tutorial, I’ve used one of my old bathroom projects.

If you are new on this channel. I create Architecture Visualization tutorials. …

So, let’s start our tutorial. You know, there are so many different light systems such as sun, sky or any other lights. In this scene, there is no light right now. If we click the start interactive button. You will see a black render image. Okay, stop this.

To set up the scene lighting, I always use override material methods to check the lighting much better. To do that, let’s create our override material. First, we need to open the material editor and then right-click choose materials corona and coronamtl. Let’s change the name to override material and then open render setup menu, click mtl. Override checkbox and add your override material here should be instance and click okay.

Alright, now all scene has grey override material. But we need to exclude the glass because the light needs to come from outside. So, we need to exclude the glass. First, choose glass and click plus button. As you can see, it says 1 object excluded. Okay, simply close those menus and open environment and effects menu with 8 numbers from the keypad. There is nothing in the environment map so, click none button and add corona sky there, simply close it and start interactive one more time.

Awesome, the skylight coming through from outside!

Let’s make some little post settings to get clear render

Make exposure to 0 Highlight to 10 Contrast to 1 No need any saturation here. Okay, our render looks much better now. As you can see there is a blueish color now because of the sky. Okay, let’s continue to add other lights…

If you would like to cooperate with me, please contact me at this e-mail address. Because, as you know, we need such brand collaborations for better quality videos. Okay. Let’s continue with our tutorial. Let’s add 2 hidden lights to the ceiling. Move to the top view with pressing T from the keyboard. And create 2 corona lights, make sure to light shape is a rectangle. Drag a rectangle shape and move this up and change the name to Hidden_Light simply copy that light with pressing shift and move the light and create the second hidden light, don’t forget to check instance. Because if we change one light’s settings it will be affected to our other hidden light.

Okay, let’s change the light settings, choose direct input for color. Because now I want to see a white color. Let’s start interactive one more time. Looks great our scene is improving. Let's add the other 2 ceiling lights. Move back to top view and create 2 more corona light but at this time make sure to shape is a sphere. Create and move up to the inside of the light cover. For this light, I’m going to use IES light. Simply click the none button and choose Real-ies bold file. As you can see the light shape is changed a bit, simply clone this light with instance clone. And change the name to the ceiling light. This is a really important thing because if your scene has too many lights. It will be easy to arrange all lightings in the lightbox menu.

Alright, let’s choose again our camera with C from the keyboard. And click the start interactive button. I think we need to reduce the light intensity from 25 to 2500

Let’s make the depth of field settings for our camera to get a much realistic render…

Okay. I think our basic lighting setup is completed. Now let’s set up the LightMix and play the color of lights. To do that, open Render Setup and Click Setup LightMix Button and then click Generate. PBR Textures. That’s it. It is really easy like that. Click start interactive button again and now you will see the LightMix tab here. You can easily change all light from here. You can turn off or on the lights and you can change light power and light color. Let’s play a little bit…

Okay, now let’s turn off our override material and see our final render. Simply click override the material checkbox and start interactive again…

Now you can make your final light settings from the LightMix tab while rendering…

Finally, make the final post settings such as contrast, vignetting, etc.
